How we work with BMW

BMWs use Bosch MSD and MEVD17 units on petrol engines (N54, N55, N20, B48, B58) and DDE units based on Bosch EDC17 on diesels (N47, B47, N57). Many can be flashed via OBD, but the newest generations are better protected and some jobs require reading the unit on the bench. We always save the original firmware.

Turbocharged BMW engines respond well to a remap, but each platform has weak points and we know them. On the N54 it is the high-pressure fuel pump, on the N47 and N20 the timing chain, and the ZF 8HP automatic has its own requirements when torque rises significantly. We check these parts during diagnostics and choose a calibration that keeps a safety margin.
